Powering Change: Is There a New Landscape for Social Justice?

The Opening Plenary will explore President Obama's first six months in office and chart his Administration's progress in addressing the nation's most critical issues in areas such as poverty, education, environment, health, and violence. They will identify the opportunities and challenges for building a real and viable agenda for social justice domestically and internationally, as well as the potential partnerships across sectors and organizations that need to be forged in order for progressive change to become a reality. Finally, they will examine the role of women's leadership and suggest how women and women's organizations can play a more decisive part in formulating the national policy agenda.
