Jorge Rivas

 Jorge Rivas, a New Media Producer at the Applied Research Center and Editor of RaceWire.org, is a firm believer in the power of visual and functional communications that inform and move people into action.  Jorge uses emerging technologies to create socially-conscious media inspired by creative marketing and the presentation of culture, news and politics.  He has extensive experience working with new media in the non-profit sector and the film industry.

Jorge graduated from San Francisco State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Raza Studies where he studied the interrelationship of culture, community, and the Internet.  Prior to joining ARC in 2005, Jorge worked on a living wage campaign in Brooklyn, NY through the Minority Activist Apprenticeship Program (MAAP).
