Debayani Kar is Communications Manager for Applied Research Center and ColorLines. Debayani brings nearly a decade of experience in non-profits, focused on communications and advocacy. Most recently, she directed communications at Transnational Institute for Grassroots Research and Action (TIGRA). In 2008, she was based in New Delhi, India, connecting Asian migrant organizations to a transnational migrant network launched by TIGRA, in collaboration with Migrant Forum in Asia and Centre for Education and Communication. 


Debayani worked in Washington, DC for several years, leading communications for non-profits including Jubilee USA Network and Center for Economic and Policy Research. Debayani has appeared on numerous radio shows and print publications discussing global justice and development. She has authored and co-authored several papers on the IMF, World Bank, and globalization. 


Debayani formerly served on the 50 Years is Enough Network Steering Committee. Previously an active volunteer for the International Campaign for Justice in Bhopal, she is currently a member of the Bay area-based Alliance of South Asians Taking Action. In her free time, she works to develop her creative writing.
