If you're going to be in and around Las Vegas this weekend, and are interested in learning more about protecting immigrant rights, easing restrictions on labor movement, and dismantling oppressive divisions that affect immigrant communities, stop by the Living without Borders encuentro at the University of Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 2nd Annual Living without Borders encuentro will be held from Friday, November 6th to Sunday, November 9th at UNLV. It is sponsored by the United Coalition for Im/migrant Rights, and will bring together hundreds of activists and community members for a weekend of dialogue around immigration freedom and borderless consciousness. This year's encuentro theme is "Building Autonomous Communities y Celebrando Cambio Social."
Rinku Sen, Executive Director of the Applied Research Center, and the co-author of The Accidental American will be giving a keynote speech on building autonomous communities and organizing within the context of border control, immigration reform, and globalization at 4pm on Sunday, November 8th. Rinku will be signing copies of The Accidental American as well; books will be available for sale at event.
