Rinku Sen receives Northstar News Prize on Thursday, Oct 29

ARC’s Executive Director, Rinku Sen, along with Ellis Cose, contributing Editor and Columnist for Newsweek, has been selected as the 2009-2019 recipient of the Northstar News Prize. The North Star News Prize recognizes journalists, mediamakers and communications professionals of color who have made a significant contribution to the public's understanding of the struggle for social justice. The work of North Star News Prize winners sheds light on the truths of our time and our lives, and inspires all of us to keep on the journey to freedom.

The News Prize Awards presentation is followed by a roundtable discussion on “The Great Recession: Who got it right? What are the social justice stories?” This discussion on media coverage of the global recession will be moderated by Deepa Fernandes, Co-Founder and Executive Director of People’s Production House. Panelists include Farai Chideya, Co-Founder of Pop+Politics.com, Roland Martin, multi-media journalist and host of Washington Watch with Roland Martin, and Kai Wright, senior writer, author and blogger with TheRoot.com
