Tammy Johnson on BBC News
This morning, Applied Research Center’s Tammy Johnson appeared on BBC Radio’s “World Have Your Say” program to discuss the identity politics surrounding Michael Jackson’s appearance, sparked by Jamie Foxx’s comments at the Black Entertainment Awards that Jackson ‘belongs’ to the black community.

Listen in the player above, or visit the blog and the podcast page. Tammy appears in the first few minutes, but stay tuned for some insightful comments by British playwright and actor Kwame Kwei-Armah on the subject of white beauty ‘superstandards’.

And if you haven’t already seen it, check out Tammy’s video for RaceWire, “Michael Jackson’s Mark on a Black-or-White World,” on Michael Jackson’s impact on white-dominated popular culture, and its impact in turn on him.
